Planned Giving
Planned gifts honor the history and future of the Academy and ensure that future generations of your family, friends, and community have the Academy to enrich their lives.
Individuals who support the Academy through their estate or other planned gift are recognized as members of the Academy Legacy Circle.
There are many ways to support the Academy through planned giving, while possibly receiving tax benefits for yourself or your loved ones.
What is a planned gift?
A planned gift is a way to include the Academy in your long-term giving — often through your will or as a beneficiary of a retirement plan — helping ensure the future of our work.
Recognition for your gift
The Academy is pleased to include you as a member of the Academy Legacy Circle. Legacy Circle members are recognized in digital publications and on the website, unless anonymity is preferred, and are invited to Academy special events each year.
Explore planned giving opportunities
Not sure where to start? Here is a list of the most common charitable gift planning opportunities.
Most Popular Planned Giving Vehicles:
- Bequests by will or trust are simple ways to make a big difference.
- Gifts by beneficiary designations is also a straightforward and inexpensive way to make a gift from retirement assets, life insurance policies, financial accounts, and Donor Advised Funds.
Additional Planned Giving Options:
- Charitable gift annuities is an income-producing option. In exchange for a gift (transfer of cash, marketable securities, or, in some cases, real estate), a charity contractually guarantees to pay you and/or another beneficiary a fixed income for life.
- Charitable remainder trusts are an income-producing option. The amount distributed at termination (the “remainder”) is paid to a charitable beneficiary.
- Gifts of other appreciated property are alternatives to cash. In certain instances, a gift of appreciated stock, tangible personal property or real estate, might offer attractive tax benefits.
