Bring your friends and your knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or any portable craft project to the theater and enjoy classic films in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

With gently dimmed lighting, you can work on your projects while watching beloved movies on the big screen. Each event also features special guests from the local crafting community, showcasing their work and offering pop-up shops full of handmade treasures.

Today’s feature is “Sense and Sensibility” (1995), a lush and emotionally rich adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel, directed by Ang Lee and written by Emma Thompson, who also stars as the sensible Elinor Dashwood. Alongside Kate Winslet as the spirited Marianne, the story follows two sisters navigating love, heartbreak, and societal expectations after their family’s sudden financial downfall. With a stellar supporting cast including Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman, the film beautifully captures the tension between reason and passion in the pursuit of happiness. A timeless tale of resilience, romance, and sisterhood.

We welcome all self-contained crafts that produce minimal mess or waste—knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilting by hand, and similar portable projects are perfect for Stitch ‘n Flix!

Please avoid bringing items like glue or materials that could cause a big mess or permanent damage. As a historic theatre built in 1891, the Academy of Music Theatre holds a special place in our community, and we’re committed to preserving its beauty for generations to come.
