Musical Theatre Workshops
Step into the spotlight at our Musical Theatre Workshops, where kids and teens get to experience the thrill of musical theatre in an immersive, full-day program! Whether they’re new to the stage or seasoned performers, this workshop offers the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of singing, dancing, and acting.
This program is a full-day, intensive experience that trains students in the practice of singing, dancing, and acting for Musical Theatre. We nurture each child’s self-esteem while fostering self-discipline, focus, and growth in their physical and artistic ability, creative thinking, and teamwork.
Plus, it’s a healthy break from screens! They’ll be spending the day singing, dancing, and moving—sweating and having a blast!!
Offer your child the thrill of performing with others on the historic Academy stage where some of history’s greatest performers have appeared.
Our workshop directors are accomplished educators and performers who are passionate about sharing their love of the craft and the process behind every theatrical experience.
No prior experience is necessary, just curiosity and excitement for the performing arts! Come be a part of the show!

Seeking lovers of Pop and Musical Theatre! In this 1 week workshop we will take favorite Top 40 radio hits and perform them with a Musical Theatre flair.
The similarities in pop concert performance and contemporary musical theatre are blending more and more, and in this workshop we will explore, celebrate, and play where these styles of performance art meet.
Each day will be filled with learning vocals and choreography for contemporary pop songs remixed and staged for performance in contemporary musical theatre. We’ll create our own showcase to be performed on Friday at the end of the week while building self-confidence on stage, digging into acting while singing/dancing, and expressing yourself through performance.
This workshop is a full-day program, 9am – 3pm. We will have a lunch break outside at Polaski Park (weather and crowds permitting). Participants bring a cold lunch from home. Food is NOT provided by the Academy of Music.

ENVIRONMENTAL SENSORY ADVISORY
Below are some environmental aspects of these programs and their activities. While there are elements we do not always have the ability to adapt for every experience, we are happy to discuss and explore potential options for your child should these or other aspects of the process raise concerns.
-
Loud Sounds – These programs will often involve amplified music and sounds. Individuals’ voices may also become amplified through use of microphones. There will be many kids singing, speaking, and playing together in large groups that can create a noisy environment.
-
Bright Lights – Participants will be performing on stage under theatrical lighting. These lights are bright and often shine from multiple angles. We will also often be under fluorescent “work lights” for most of the day.
-
Large Groups – These programs are typically large group activities that involve many kids together at once in a shared space (often around 30+ kids)
